Natural Pools

Natural swimming pools (NSPs) are a way to blend the sustainability & natural beauty of a pond with the functionality of a swimming pool. NSPs use biological filtration in lieu of the more common chemical or chlorine water cleaning systems used in most artificial swimming pools. The pools generally consist of a swimming area & a filtration area which can interact & be visible as much or as little as the designer wishes. The pools have a tendency to look more natural than completely artificial pools but can be made to look extremely contemporary as is evidenced in the images below. To date there are over 20,000 NSPs in Europe although there are none to date in the US.

Father's Worst Nightmare.

WOW. Talk about a parental "Where Did I Go Wrong" moment. Actor Laurence Fishburne's 19 year old daughter is making major step in order to break into the Hollywood scene, though porn. The young women (see her & her pimp in video below) is starring in a new dirty movie for Vivid Entertainment which should be out next month. She explains, "I've watched how successful Kim Kardashian became and I think a lot of it was due to the release of her sex tape." Of all of people in the world, your gonna use Kim Kardashian as your role model? Being that her father is present in her life this is extremely shocking to me. I would think since she has a positive male role model in her life she would know her worth. Porn tho? Thats worse than stripping. Especially because she doesn't have to. Smh. Imagine how her father is reacting!! This is just shameful. We all need to pray for her.

Lara Stone Sues Playboy.

Supermodel Lara Stone is suing French Playboy for publishing nude photographs of her without permission in the magazine's June 2010 issue (photos below). It was announced that Stone will be pressing charges against both Playboy and photographer Greg Lotus. She stated, "Playboy had no right to publish these unauthorized photographs. It's not the kind of publication I would ever choose to appear in. I feel I have no option but to take steps to protect my reputation."

I found that statement very puzzling considering she has done semi nude photoshoots before that were obviously willingly published. I mean, what do you expect, its Playboy! Why would you be photographed naked period if you had no intention on having them published. No one forced you to take your clothes off. Makes no sense. None the less, she'll probably get a decent settlement out of this situation anyway.

Oil Spill In China

Last Thursday in Beijing, China another horrible natural disaster occurred. On the country's largest reported oil spill recorded filled the Yellow Sea. The cleanup, temporarily marred by the drowning of a worker this week, his body coated in crude, continued over a 165 square mile stretch of the Yellow Sea off the northeastern city of Dalian, one of China's major ports and strategic oil reserve sites. China National Petroleum Corp. said Thursday that the pipeline that exploded and caused the oil spill last Friday had resumed operations. The blast had reduced oil shipments from part of China's strategic oil reserves to the rest of the country. The cause of the explosion that started the spill was still not clear. The company, Asia's biggest oil & gas producer by volume (doesn't this sound familiar?), also said more than 400 tons of oil had been cleaned up by 9 a.m. yesterday. "Dalian's seafood farming & tourism industries have taken critical hits," Greenpeace China said in a statement. It estimated 10,000 shellfish farms have been contaminated. Fishing in the waters around Dalian has been banned through the end of August. China Central Television earlier reported an estimate of 1,500 tons of oil has spilled. That would amount roughly to 400,000 gallons, as compared with 94 million to 184 million gallons in the BP oil spill in the gulf of Mexico.

Oscar Grant

For all of you who do not know, last year a man named Oscar Grant was shot & killed by a bart police officer. He was unarmed & handcuffed. Yesterday, the "police officer" who killed his innocent man execution style was charged with involuntary manslaughter, which only has a sentence of two to four years. Being that this happen in Oakland, of course there was a riot. From the video's I've seen & what friends have told me it got completely out of control. Since when was looting Foot Lockers & Sears change anything? People always make up an excuse to steal! I completely understand that this was an unfair verdict, I'm surprised & angered myself. However creating more violence in Oakland isn't the way to go. People who aren't from there already thing of it as a dangerous place. Honestly, I do not know what will change anything at this point. I'm not a law major, I don't agree with the judicial system & want nothing to do with it. It is corrupt & unethical. What I do hope is that we as a community learn from this unfortunate situation. Everyone please keep Oscar's family in your prayers.

If you are ever in Santa Monica, you should eat here!!! Little peace of Caribbean heaven. A few friends & I went here last weekend & I fell in love. So good. It likes a little safari when you walk in. Very lively, lots of music & great service. They don't serve alcohol, but they allow you to bring your own & will even open the bottle for you! I'm a vegetarian, so I got the only plate I could, the spinach quesadilla. It was so good!!! Extremely flavorful & filling. The sour cream was sweet & tangy (in a good way). Talking about it is making me want some now. Oh hell yes I'm off to dinner!
